About Us
Our vision is an Australia free from youth homelessness.
Currently, one third of Australians facing homelessness are under the age of 25. Every night, 28,000 young people experience homelessness in our country. For an affluent country like Australia, we believe these numbers are simply unacceptable.
For Change Co. is a social enterprise born from the idea that if we can provide the tools to empower young people to take control of their lives, then they will be able to create their own pathway out of the homeless cycle.
With an unwavering passion to support young people experiencing homelessness and a successful crowdfunding campaign, we launched our first social enterprise, Crêpes for Change, in 2015. Run entirely by people under the age of 30, it was Australia’s first not-for-profit crêpe truck and it hit the road running, catering events all over Melbourne, serving up delicious crêpes and spreading the word about our mission for a brighter future.
Fast forward to nine years later Рafter tens of thousands of generous volunteer hours, donation dollars, and cr̻pes sold РFor Change Co. is now a family of social enterprises with six different venues which provide a seedbed for young people to be empowered to escape the cycle of homelessness.
The For Change Co. family now includes For Change Cafe, Brunswick, For Change Cafe, Middle Park, For Change Cafe, Bellfield, Catering For Change, and of course, Crêpes for Change.
We deliver lasting change to the lives of young people who are at-risk of or experiencing homelessness by employing them in our program Pathways For Change, a paid training and employment program. Our trainees work across our venues under the guidance of our experienced trainers and staff, developing their workplace skills and confidence.
With a strong focus on affordability and environmental sustainability, we specialise in providing high quality barista-made coffee and delicious vegetarian and plant-based meals to our socially conscious customers.
Most importantly, 100% of our profits go towards supporting our programs alleviating youth homelessness.
We have over a whole community working towards our vision including staff, volunteers, trainers, partner organisations, board members, and donors. We all believe in a future where youth homelessness doesn’t exist. Will you join us and help us make a difference?
