It’s Official- For Change Cage, Bellfield is open!
The latest cafe to join the group is For Change Cafe, Bellfield, 9 km N.E. of the CBD. Located within the new community hub building at 13 Daphne Crescent, Bellfield.
When selecting the location for this new venue, we noticed the need for a Melbourne-style cafe in the local area. With so many young couples and families moving to the area, many from neighbouring Thornbury, Northcote and Preston, it made good commercial sense to follow these people and open a cafe that serves the community.
Moreover, we selected the location to support young people facing homelessness in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. Most of the young people in our programs reside in supported housing; our location at 13 Daphne Crescent was the perfect place with a large-scale Launch Housing project underway just down the road.
We will start onboarding new trainees to the Bellfield venue in the coming months.
And we couldn’t have opened this venue without the support of the local Banyule Council, whose focus on social issues like accessible health, employment, and affordable housing is a strong focus.
Now let’s talk about the food!
For Change Cafe, Bellfield has many of the menu favourites from our other venues – the famous Toasties from For Change Cafe, Brunswick (known to locals as home.one) – my favourite will always be the Breakfast Toastie, complete with hash brown, rocket, avocado and homemade aioli. And the Spicy Tofu Salad which has become a staple at our Middle Park venue.
